Why is it important to read books?
Reading is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge and lessons while keeping our minds active. Books can hold and keep all kinds of information, stories, thoughts and feelings unlike anything else in this world. The importance of a book to help us learn and understand things cannot be underestimated.
Can words, paragraphs, and fictional worlds be all that great for you and your health? It definitely can, and reading is a timeless form of entertainment and information.
These eBooks can be read without checkouts or holds. The goal of Tamil Bookshelf is to encourage a love of reading and serve as a gateway to reader reading even more often, whether in school, at libraries.
சிறுகதைகள்
தமிழ் சிறுகதை இலக்கிய வடிவ வளர்ச்சி மட்டுமே, உலகின் மற்ற மொழி சிறுகதை இலக்கியங்களுக்கு நிகராக உள்ளது. ஏனைய பிற இலக்கியம் வடிவங்கள் தமிழில் பின்தங்கியே உள்ளதென்று, உலக ஒப்பியல் இலக்கிய ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர். தமிழில் சிறுகதை வடிவம் எவரால் முதலில் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது என்பதுகுறித்து விவாதம் உள்ளது. பாரதியாரின் ரயில்வே ஸ்தானம் என்ற சிறுகதையே முக்கியமான முதல் சிறுகதை என்பார்கள். ஆனால் சிறுகதை வடிவம் சரியாக அமைந்தது வ.வெ.சு அய்யர் எழுதிய மங்கையற்கரசியின் காதல் என்ற தொகுதியில் உள்ள குளத்தங்கரை அரசமரம் என்ற சிறுகதையாகும்.
வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகங்கள்
வரலாறு என்பதை நாம், மன்னர்களின் வெற்றிச் சரித்திரமாக மட்டுமே நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். அது தவறான எண்ணம். மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையும், பண்பாட்டு மாற்றங்களும், பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சியும் சேர்ந்ததுதான் முழுமையான வரலாறு. நிலப்பரப்பளவில் ஒப்பிட, இந்தியா சிறிய தேசமாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் பண்பாட்டில் உலகுக்கே வழிகாட்டும் நாடு.
சரித்திர நாவல்கள்
தமிழின் முதலாவது வரலாற்றுப் புதினமான மோகனாங்கியை (1895) எழுதியவர் இலங்கையின் திருகோணமலையைச் சேர்ந்த த. சரவணமுத்துப்பிள்ளை என்பவராவார். தமிழ்நாட்டில் மக்களைக் கவரும் வகையில் வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்களை எழுதித் தமிழ் வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்கள் மீது ஆர்வத்தை உருவாக்கியவர் எழுத்தாளர் கல்கி ஆவார். இதனால் இவர் தமிழ் வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்களின் தந்தை எனவும் அழைக்கப்படுவதுண்டு. இவர் எழுதி "கல்கி" வார இதழில் தொடர்கதைகளாக வெளிவந்த பொன்னியின் செல்வன், சிவகாமியின் சபதம், பார்த்திபன் கனவு ஆகிய புதினங்கள் பெயர்பெற்றவை. இவரைத் தொடர்ந்து, அகிலன், நா. பார்த்தசாரதி, செகசிற்பியன், கோவி. மணிசேகரன், சாண்டில்யன் போன்ற பல எழுத்தாளர்கள் தமிழில் வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்களை எழுதியுள்ளனர். சாண்டில்யன், குமுதம் வார இதழ் மூலம் பல வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்களைத் தொடராக எழுதிப் புகழ் பெற்றார். கடல் புறா, யவனராணி, ராஜமுத்திரை போன்ற இவரது புதினங்கள் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவை.
தமிழ் இலக்கிய புத்தகங்கள்
தமிழ் இலக்கியம் இரண்டாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலான தொடர்ச்சி கொண்ட உலகின் சிறந்த இலக்கியங்களில் ஒன்று. வாழ்வின் பல்வேறு கூறுகளை தமிழ் இலக்கியங்கள் இயம்புகின்றன. தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் வெண்பா, குறள், புதுக்கவிதை, கட்டுரை, பழமொழி, தொண்ணூற்றாறு வகை சிற்றிலக்கியங்கள் என பல வடிவங்கள் உள்ளன. தமிழில் வாய்மொழி இலக்கியங்களும் முக்கிய இடம் வகிக்கின்றன.
COMMON TOPICS
The common ground between library science and information science, which is a strong one, is in the sharing of their social role and in their general concern with the problems of effective utilization of graphic records.
But there are also very significant differences in several critical respects, among them in:
(1) selection of problems addressed and in the way they were defined;
(2) theoretical questions asked and frameworks established;
(3) the nature and degree of experimentation and empirical development and the resulting practical knowledge/competencies derived;
(4) tools and approaches used; and
(5) the nature and strength of interdisciplinary relations established and the dependence of the progress and evolution of interdisciplinary approaches.
All of these differences warrant the conclusion that librarianship and information science are two different fields in a strong interdisciplinary relation, rather than one and the same field, or one being a special case of the other.

தமிழ் மின் புத்தகங்கள்
இன்று அதிக அளவில் பயன்படுத்தும் புத்தகங்கள், தாளில் அச்சிட்டு, கட்டுமானம் செய்து தயாரிக்கப்படுகின்றன. இப்புத்தகத்தில் இடம் பெற்றுள்ள செய்திகளைப் போலவே கணினி உதவியுடன் தட்டச்சு செய்து இணையத்தில் இடம் பெறச் செய்து அதை இணைய வழியில் படிக்கும் படியாக மின்புத்தகங்கள் உருவாக்கப்படுகின்றன. இணையத்திலிருந்து இதனைப் தரவிறக்கம் செய்து கணினியில் சேமித்து வைத்துத் தேவைப்படும் போது படிக்கும் நிலையிலும் மின் புத்தகங்கள் உருவாக்கப்படுகின்றன.
